My nephew Kyle asked me just yesterday where we’re planning on vacationing this year.  Unfortunately, with gas prices being as high as they are, we probably won’t go far!  We have been trying to find some cheap hotels, inexpensive tourist attractions, etc. He wants to go with us. We’re in Indiana, maybe we’ll take him up to the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis…that’s supposed to be the largest Children’s Museum in the world…..or, we could go to Conner Prairie..it’s a real working, living history museum..it’s outdoors and is a wonderful place to visit. It’s located in Fishers, IN

Either way…they’re closer than we usually travel, so will be easier on the gas tank! ;-)

Last year my mom went to Canada.  She had no trouble at all getting in to Canada or back in to the United States.  She didn’t need a passport, she simply showed her id.  She took her birth certificate just in case, but never needed it.

Now that has changed.  You must have a passport to go to Canada and back to the US…I was told it doesn’t matter how long your trip will be for, it’s still required if your trip is only to go grab a Canadian coffee!

Well…I guess whatever is necessary to help keep terrorists away…but I can think of a few things I’d like to do that is sure to keep them away! :-)

My mom is going on a trip…again.  She is finally at a point in her life where she can travel and enjoy herself a little bit.  I’m very happy for her.  She deserves it…after dealing with kids like me and my brothers?!  sheesh…that woman deserves the moon!  ;-)

So now she goes on a vacation at least a few times each year.  Tomorrow she’s leaving for North Carolina.  She’s flying…which is something I won’t do…I never liked flying very much.  I wonder if she thought to get travel insurance…she usually does.

My mom has worked every day of her life…and at a job that was less than easy (much less!) She deserves to go and do what she wants..I’m so happy for her..I’ll be even more so next year when she finally retires!

We have been trying to decide where (and even when) we want to go on vacation this year.  Last year we went to Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa.  The year before we went to Amish Country in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC and New Jersey.

We don’t have to go to quite so many states all in one trip…but we would like it to be fun and to a State at least one member of the family hasn’t been to yet.  So…we’re thinking about Georgia and South Carolina…or even a cruise!

So..I’ve been searching all over the internet for travel deals. We like to save money when we can, so I always try to buy tickets to attractions, parks, etc. early when I can *usually* get them at a discount.

So..which should we do? Georgia’s historic Savannah and South Carolina’s historic Charleston…or take the kids on a cruise? Which would you do?
Let me know what you think!
