We have a lot of furniture to sell. Desks, bookcases, coffee tables, refrigerators, stoves and more. We’re having a hard time getting them all sold. We haven’t been asking too much for them…I think people just don’t have the extra money right now..so they’re just making do with what they have, unfortunately for me!
I have used cheapcycle (a great local mail group in which we can sell or buy things) and a yard sale. I guess my next step is placing an ad in the paper.
We have a large, boring lawn. We need at least a little going on out there…but we only have a well. True, it’s the original well to the house….it was actually used to get water for the occupants…which is kinda cool…but that’s all we have out there! I need something…like outdoor furniture, a fire pit, a koi pond…something. I do also have the original pond to the house out there….but it’s all dried up and it leaks. I can fix that up and add some water plants…that may be nice.
I have a friend who owns some land with a creek…maybe we can go get some creek rock and place it around the pond…that would be nice…
The only problem with all this dreaming of fixing up the yard is…we want to move…we *really* want to move! Maybe I should fix up the yard to make the house look nicer…so we can sell it for more!
I live in an old house that’s always needing work done to it. Right now, we have a toilet that leaks, a faucet that leaks, a drain that clogs easily, painting that needs done, exterior work needing done…etc..etc…Because of this, it’s hard for us to do anything extra that we would like to do.
For instance, I have been wanting to put in a small pond in the back yard for two years now. I would also like to get some of those wood blinds for the first floor. I love the way they look in an old house. Even if I could get them only for the foyer and the living room…that would be great. As I said, there is always something that needs to be done to the house…so the things we really want get put on the back burner for a while. 
Oh well…maybe next month!
I just got this great thing in the mail yesterday. It’s a Beware of Dog sign. I like having one out to let them know my dog is in the yard, but I never liked those ugly signs you get at the store. These are attractive and come in three different color; cobalt blue, grass green and chocolate brown. These beware of dog signs are way cool!
This is what the green sign looks like…isn’t that awesome?! Since I just got mine yesterday I haven’t had a chance to hang mine up yet. As soon as I do I’ll be posting again to show you all how great it looks! I think I’ll be putting mine on the side of the house…and our house is stucco so I need a drill to get it mounted…I’ll be sure to let you all see it.
The company who makes the signs is awesome! They have a *Good Karma* policy, they ship first and expect payment later. The signs come with mounting hardware.
We would like to move, but with the housing market the way it is, we probably won’t get our home sold. So…to make life easier here I would like to get more outdoor stuff in my yard….I’ve been looking at a fish pond, patio furniture, a seating area between the house and the pond, and a lot more. I have an old pond area, it’s original to our 1910 house, made from bricks. We actually could see the bricks in the yard and decided to dig around them and found that it was a pond. It’s pretty cool to have. I won’t put any fish in it, just some water plants….I hope to bring in the frogs to help get rid of the insects in the yard.
Any idea how to get rid of bats? We can’t go outside to the far end of our yard near our pole barn at night for fear of being dive bombed! This bat is there every year, and he will dive bomb you if you go in his general vicinity! If anyone reading this can give me any tips on getting him out of here that would be great!
