I’m starting my blog fresh, in the hopes that it’ll help me in my genealogy research and, currently, in my Genealogy Do-Over.
I’m starting today in the Genealogy Do-Over. Basically, I’m putting aside all the research I’ve done over the years. Yes, that’s right, all of it. No, I’m not crazy. No, I’m not throwing it away. I’m only setting it aside so I can re-train myself to “do genealogy” correctly, organized and with purpose and not just random searching and under-recording.
I went through the genealogy do-over a long time ago. As a matter of fact, it was the first time Thomas MacEntee ran the Do-over on-line. I seem to remember that back then it was a weekly thing and currently it’s a monthly thing. I plan to go weekly for the most part, though I’m sure some topics will take a bit longer.
This week I’m writing my Golden Rules of Genealogy, setting my research aside and preparing to research. Later this week, I’ll post how these things are going.
It’s great to be back full force researching, and I’m hoping the do-over will help to improve my technique so that I may write the books my father and I are hoping to write.
